‘Sonder’, is defined as the realisation that every person you pass in the street is living a life that’s as vivid and complex as yours.

The stories of the strangers who pass us by, are as rich as our own. Memories and moments that span decades and continents. From the radiant beaches that border Lagos, to the barren schools of London. The halcyon parks of Los Angeles, to the welcoming homes of Senegal. Every story fascinates in its own way, but not everyone gets the chance to tell theirs.

The Colour Balance has collaborated with ally Mitchell Studios to give four photographers from underrepresented backgrounds - Ejatu Shaw, Jack Lawson, Khalil Musa and Serena Brown - the platform to exhibit some of their most inspired work. To find out more about them, click ‘Meet the Artists’ at the bottom of the page.

As the creative industry rushes to play catch up with its glaring deficiencies in diversity and inclusion, this immersive 360o virtual reality gallery looks forward to the digital frontier and seeks equity for the voices of those who are Black and People of Colour in virtual spaces.

SONDER is an exhibition of these stories, and a platform in the Metaverse for the underrepresented perspectives through which they’re told.
